From Internship to CFO at Bank Frick
Melanie Mündle speaks with Liechtenstein business publication Wirtschaft regional about her career journey – from a reception desk internship to the Board of Directors.
Many successful executives move to a new company after just a few years. Not Mündle. She has been with Bank Frick for 20 years, serving as CFO and a member of the Board since 2018. Although she originally wanted to study almost anything other than finance, she soon discovered a passion for numbers.
Growing Together for 20 Years
Today, her role extends far beyond finance, encompassing strategic decision-making and major projects. Mündle and Bank Frick have grown together over the past two decades: today, the bank employs 15 times as many people as it did on her very first day. «We have now reached a point where we can scale our business model even further and achieve significant long-term growth in this area,» Mündle explains in the interview.

Focus on Crypto-Assets: New FINMA Requirements for Asset Managers
The Swiss FINMA has clarified its requirements for the custody of crypto-assets by asset managers. The new directive mandates that crypto-assets must be held separately for each client with a regulated custodian, such as a bank or an institution under equivalent supervision. Foreign custodians are only permitted if they provide bankruptcy protection equivalent to Swiss regulations.
Asset managers with crypto strategies and investment products—especially AMCs and ETPs—must review and, if necessary, adjust their current setups. Regulatory-compliant, legally robust, and operationally reliable custody solutions have become essential.

Certificates awarded to new Blockchain and FinTech experts
25 graduates of the University of Liechtenstein’s professional development programmes, Certificate Programme in Blockchain and FinTech and CAS Blockchain and FinTech, received their certificates on 13 March 2026. Professor Martin Angerer, Academic Director and Professor of Finance, presented the certificates during a graduation ceremony.
