Bank Frick is playing in the Champions League with its offering for its employees
In Space 4U, Bank Frick has created a place where employees can come together across departments, try out new things and inspire one another. Be it exercise, creativity or shared experiences: the offering is diverse and actively shaped by employees. A multifunctional room offers contemporary training facilities and space for creative exchange. Experts agree: this makes Bank Frick a pioneer throughout Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
Anyone who aspires to be an innovation and product leader places high demands on employees. “This makes it all the more important for us to create a balance and promote joint activities and dialogue,” says Melanie Mündle, Project Manager and Bank Frick’s CFO. With this in mind, the bank launched Space 4U a year ago, converting a former disco in the industrial zone of Balzers into a contemporary meeting place with an integrated gym. Called the Magnet, what has been created is a place where exercise and social contact come together. It offers contemporary training equipment, yoga and massage rooms, physiotherapy areas and opportunities to socialise and spend time together away from the daily work routine.
Not prescribed but lived: how employees are shaping Space 4U
Space 4U lives from the employees’ ideas and commitment: be it kickboxing, yoga, strength and cardio workouts, hiking, jogging, golf, Zumba or padel, the activities are organised on the employees’ own initiative and there are no limits to what their imagination can come up with. The offering consists largely of sports courses, but not only. Pottery, juggling challenges, pizza baking courses, meditation sessions and Mario Kart races provide a balance. “Space 4U is a lived corporate culture. The special thing about it is that most of the courses and activities are offered by our own employees,” Mündle continues. People who are privately involved in competitive or ambitious amateur sport or have a special hobby pass on their knowledge and passion.
“Bank Frick is a pioneer with Space 4U”
Last year, around 65 percent of employees took part in an activity at least once and interest remains strong: at the end of September 2025, the participation rate was 69 percent (209 out of 302 employees). “Experience has shown that companies often find it difficult to establish a corporate health management system that is firmly anchored and regularly utilised. With Space 4U, Bank Frick is a pioneer throughout Switzerland and Liechtenstein and is extremely exemplary,” says occupational physician Dr Dieter Kissling. Well-known from appearances on SRF and in other Swiss media, the expert gave a keynote speech at Magnet at the beginning of October and got to know Space 4U. He emphasised: “Bank Frick is certainly at the forefront of companies in Liechtenstein and Switzerland that implement their corporate health management system in a practical and concrete way.”
Courses from external sports trainers and specialist lectures
For Melanie Mündle, an enthusiastic sportswoman who regularly takes part in running challenges and leads after-work hikes, Space 4U is a project close to her heart: “Especially as we have grown so much in recent years, I am delighted to see how our team communicates across departmental boundaries and how employees and managers are actively involved.” The Space 4U offering is topped off with advice articles, courses from external sports trainers and specialist lectures. For instance, Viktor Röthlin, the most successful Swiss marathon runner of all time, was recently a guest speaker. His conclusion: “I’ve travelled a lot, but I’ve never seen such consistent implementation. That’s Champions League level.”
